Quick Meals with Heart for Valentine's Day

Afraid of losing your whole night preparing for one meal? We’ve been there, too—but don’t fret!

We have you covered with quick meals that will let you spend the night with that one person who matters most.

Sriracha Roasted Chili

Spice up your relationship with some hot chili! This is a quick meal to prepare, but it needs to cook for a while before eating. Take it easy on yourself with this set-it-and-forget-it strategy, making it simple to prepare even if you’re not a chef at home.

The best part? You can essentially throw all the ingredients into a slow cooker and walk away. All you need to do is chop up the veggies, cook the beef (unless you’re a vegetarian), and mixing in the right amount of Sriracha sauce!

You’ll need:

  • Diced tomatoes
  • 2 green peppers
  • 1 can of six-bean salad (all beans, not lettuce!)
  • Mushrooms (any kind will do)
  • 2 cloves of garlic (not a whole head of garlic, just the little pieces!)
  • onions
  • Beef (cook this chopped up for quick meals!)
  • Your trusty bottle of Sriracha sauce

Setting your slow cooker to “low” for eight hours is ideal, but you can set it to “high” for 4 hours if you’re pressed for time. Let the

Let the flavour of the beef seep into the rest of the chili, mixing with the sriracha sauce melt in your mouth.

City of Love (French) Toast

Need to do your cooking in the morning? No problem! This is one of the few quick meals that brings a smile to everyone in the morning—and it’s Valentine’s Day, so you can treat your beloved to a few carbs, even if you’d normally avoid them.

Just follow these easy steps:

  • Beat one egg w, one teaspoon of vanilla extract, a half-teaspoon of cinnamon, and a quarter-cup of milk. Stir it all together.
  • Dip your bread slices into the mix on both sides.
  • Lay the dipped bread slices onto a non-stick pan (or use some PAM), and bake for five minutes.

Take them out of the oven, let cool for a moment, and voila—you are ready to go! You can even play the breakfast-in-bed card for extra points.

Sizzlin’ Steak Fajitas

Your relationship will be sizzling on Valentine’s Day, so shouldn’t your food?

So many people order steak when they go out for dinner anyway, so why not make a home-cooked meal using the same ingredients?

Throw these ingredients into a fajita:

  • Top sirloin beef
  • Salsa (add cilantro if you’re feeling adventurous!)
  • Black turtle beans
  • Corn, sans cob
  • Sweet bell peppers
  • Zucchini
  • Onions
  • spinach

This is also a great way to spice up your home dinners if you don’t cook that often. Your significant other can go to work bragging about how sweet you were to put in the effort to cook.

But if you still want to make this a quick meal, then we’ve got you covered as well!

Valentine’s Day falls on a Wednesday this year, so pay attention, guys! Whatever you do, do not take your partner for Whopper Wednesday. Fast food can make our bodies react negatively, and you do not want to condition your significant other to have a stomach ache the morning after a night with you.

Besides, good things come to guys who cook.

Want more quick meals that make you feel 100% the next morning? Have healthy dishes ready to go with a meal plan just for you (and your partner).
